Bali with Kids, Part 1: Four Points by Sheraton Bali, Seminyak and Beach Club KU DE TA

Hello. In the summer of 2024, our family (with a child) traveled to Bali, Indonesia. We split the trip between two very different hotels — for the first half, we based ourselves at Four Points by Sheraton Bali, Seminyak, enjoying the pool, a beach club, and a steakhouse dinner. 1. Pool days at Four Points by Sheraton Bali, Seminyak

We spent the first half of our trip at Four Points by Sheraton Bali, Seminyak (Jalan Cendrawasih No. 99 DS, Petitenget, Seminyak), right in the middle of town but with a surprisingly spacious pool that made it easy with kids.

Big yellow bean-bag floats bobbed in the water, and both my child and I ended up claiming a spot there for most of the afternoon.

The garden also had an inflatable water slide, and my child went up and down it more times than I could count.

💡 Tip with kids: the Bali sun is strong — early morning or late afternoon pool time is easiest on kids.

Rooftop dinner and sunset

From the hotel's rooftop terrace, we watched a beautiful sunset over the rooftops of Bali's houses. Dinner together up there, tablets in hand, was one of the more relaxed moments of the trip.

2. Shopping at a Seminyak bazaar

We wandered from the hotel to one of Seminyak's open-air bazaar areas, lined with stalls selling colorful Balinese dresses and kaftans. Picking out clothes for my child while chatting with the shopkeeper was one of the small pleasures of the trip.

💡 Tip with kids: haggling is normal at these bazaars. Shopkeepers were often extra friendly and chatty when we had a child with us.

3. An afternoon at beach club "KU DE TA"

No trip to Seminyak is complete without the iconic beach club "KU DE TA" (Jl. Kayu Aya No.9, Seminyak). Its open deck overlooking the ocean is lined with red sofa seating, and the kids happily snacked and played handheld games while we all took in the view.

💡 Tip with kids: KU DE TA gets busy toward sunset, so visiting during the day is a more relaxed option with children.

4. A beach club with pink umbrellas, and steakhouse night

Near our hotel was a beach with a beach club marked by bright pink umbrellas. The sand was warm underfoot, and walking the shoreline with my child was simply a good time.

For dinner one night we went to the well-known The Butcher's Club Steakhouse (Jl. Cendrawasih, Petitenget, Kerobokan), open since 2015 and known for its dry-aged cuts — it had kid-friendly options on the menu too.

💡 Tip with kids: beach club umbrellas fill up fast, so arriving in the morning is your best bet for a spot.

5. Honest Q&A for families (Seminyak)

Q. Is Four Points by Sheraton Bali, Seminyak good for kids? A. The pool is spacious and the garden has a water slide, so our child was entertained just staying at the hotel. It's also centrally located and easy to get around from.

Q. Can you bring kids to KU DE TA? A. We saw other families there, though the vibe leans toward a stylish, adult-oriented beach club. Visiting during a quieter daytime slot worked well with our child.

Q. Do you need Indonesian to shop at the bazaars? A. Basic English and gestures were enough for us. Simple phrases covered the haggling too.

6. When to go & what to wear (Bali in August)

Our visit in August fell in the dry season, with clear skies most days. The sun is strong, but humidity is lower than in the wet season, making it a comfortable time to visit (impressions only; always check the latest forecast before you travel).

Daytime: strong sun — a hat and sunscreen are essential
Mornings/evenings: comfortable temperatures; a light layer helps
Pool & beach: enjoyable year-round given Bali's climate

8. Practical notes (transport, packing)

Getting around: the hotel, beach clubs, and bazaar area are all within walking distance in Seminyak
Sun protection: hat, sunscreen, and a rash guard are musts
Pool play: many hotels have floats on hand, but bring a favorite if your child has one
Shopping: carry cash for smoother haggling at the bazaars
